The idea of establishing an organization representing the logistic sector operating in Central Poland was born in 2014 in parallel in two different groups of logistics passionates: one was centered around the Wł. Reymont Łódź Airport and the Department of Logistics at the Faculty of Management of the University of Lodz, and the other one was centered around the Lodz Special Economic Zone, the Lodz Regional Development Agency and the Marshal’s Office of the Lodz Region. In 2015 both groups successfully combined and integrated activities and contacts with companies and local governments. This has become a good predictor for building a good climate for cooperation to integrate the entire industry and exploit the potential of Central Poland for the dynamic development of logistics in the region.
Central Poland, with its location, existing and planned transport routes (junction of two TEN-T corridors) and a large number of logistics and transport operators, for many years has not been able to become a strong player in the logistics sector, as it should have been in terms of the existing logistical potential. Companies and institutions operating in the region have realized that success will not come alone and start to see the chance of development not in competition, but in cooperation.
By serendipity, in mid-2015 both groups met and decided that since the main goal is to integrate the industry, a further work on networking should be made together. This resulted in creating an initiative group which consisted of dozen of entities.
The inauguration of LODZistics took place on 4 December 2015 at the jointly organized conference “Logistics in Lodzkie Region”, which was attended by nearly 100 people. The Letter of Intent on Establishing the Network was signed by representatives of companies, universities, business environment institutions and local governments. During the conference, many additional letters of intent have been collected from entrepreneurs and representatives of local authorities who wanted to join LODZistics.
March 22, 2016, the first General Assembly of LODZistics took place. The Statutes were accepted, the Management Board, the Supervisory Board and the Working Group Coordinators were appointed. The signed documents were sent to the court for the registration of the LODZistics Logistic Business Network of Central Poland.
On October 27, 2016 the registration was completed which officially launched our network.
